Regarding the Egyptian medallion. could it have been brought back by a WW1 vet. Didn't the Anzacs train in Egypt before Galipoli?

You asked about knives.

The problem with knives is that most are iron and we simply don't dig them up. Most where probably used until they where filed down to a sliver and what was left rusted away not long after.
