they will probably shoot you on sight.....but that's just a guess
Egypt has just undergone a chaotic government change which can be dangerous just visiting there let alone metal detecting there.
Tombs could be right....Better take a bullet proof vest and lots of bribe money when you're arrested.
I wouldn't even try, some of what they class as antiquities and cultural property aren't particularly old. And even if it's legal... if you do find something old on the beach you'll be there an extra month sorting out the paperwork.
