Henry III Penny but which one?

I was lucky enough today, to have walked over the hammered penny shown below. Especially pleased as all the other ones I have found this year have been in pretty poor condition (not that I don't love them).

I know it is a Henry III example but can anyone suggest a Spink reference?

The Vb's were minted in Durham by RICARD, which I think is the moneyer's name. BUT it looks like RICARD ON C to me, which would indicate Canterbury. Can anyone else help? I may be wrong...it may not be RICARD but it looks like it.

your proberbly right with ric/ard/on/cant class 5b 's were minted at Bury, Canterbury, durham and London but theres no ricard at Bury, so must be Canterbury, durham or London.

    Hello Dave

Your coin is a Henry III Long Cross with a reverse legend RICARD ON CA which is Ricard @ Canterbury Mint and Ricard only minted Vg & Vh at Canterbury and the X of REX is of the Curule chair shaped type which makes it Spinks 1373 or 1374 Page 160, Mint info Page 161 in 2011 book.

    Randy:

Thanks for the further thoughts on the ID. It's great how everyone pulls together and it's this kind of service that makes me consider that the modest "platinum fee" is a bargain.

    Tony:
I was having a really difficult day with the CTX and I can only think that the extremely wet ground did not agree with the only programme I used that day (Gary's "coin harvester"). The only positive, steady signals I got were from rubbish items such as ring pulls. Maybe I should have tried using one of the programmes that you detailed in your last pm?

I found the hammered coin within 30 minutes of changing to the Deus (pardon my French ). Signals from this machine were very crisp and I dug plenty of small non-ferrous items.

its a transitional between 5g and 5h, Ricard at canterbury, there's so many variations that you do tend to get slight cross overs, the face has the appearance of 5h but the central fleur on the crown is of 5g

trying to add pictures but it wont let me
