The fantastic SEF 6x8"....and great hunting..

Today I was on my way to work, but due to the really first cold morning my BMW didnt start.Battery totally dead. After only 6 years of use..
I was happy with that, cus now I could do something fun, like go out for a hunt in the fantastic wheather.Trees changing colours and it was a leaf rain from the maples trees painting the landscape
    with beautiful colours.

I packed my backpack and went out to my favoriteplace.Old pasture mixed with oak trees hundreds of years in age.

This day I choosed to hunt with the E-trac and the baby-SEF coil,a terrific little thing.Deep, sensitiv, and stable.I was running the E-trac"HOT",manuel sens 30 and smooth signal, using the "Roman pattern".

I had been over this place so many times,so I didnīt expect to find anything, but after 10-15 minutes I got a really good but jumpy signal.12-45,46...11-41,42...all the time good signals and two ways.
So I picked up the draper spade and started to dig.Wasnt in the clod.Worked it another 3-4 inches and voila a shilling came up..

That was nice.I enjoyed the weather even though it was a rather cold frosty morning.I put the plug back and all the dirt, but I dubbel checked the hole, and there was some more down there.A signal at straight 11-42.
    Horay...a shilling spill...fantastic..and there it was a 1/4 Shilling 1799.

I jumped up and down and realised that my praying to the mighty Etrac had been heard

I went on searching after having a cup of coffee warming up my cold hands and body.

Next find was a small 1 ore 1885 bronze in really good condition.VID for that was 12-22,solid tone.Close to that coin a bullet I never had found before, ring in at 12-39
This was great, that small coil sniffing up some fun stuff.

I searched a old track and had my next coin. This time less then hundred years old.A 2 ore 1921,signal 12-33,thought I should be a bottle cap,but signal was to good for that.
It was getting late and I was running low on energy.Could have been going on for hours more, but hunger stopped that idea.

Well I was happy with the finds.Nothing worthy but fun just the same.Thats what its all about, having fun

Great hunting to you all.Its out there.

Looks like a great place to hunt-but cold. Great finds and photos.
Did you take photos yourself with camera timer? If so,jumping shot is well co-ordinated.
Like the steaming coil photo also. Well done!

    Great finds!

There's nothing like searching a big oak forest in the Fall.

Yep, batteries tend to die in about that time and usually without warning if the engine is a quick starter.
I replace the batteries in my vehicles every 5 years whether they need it or not.

    Thanks!
Yes tripod and self timer set on 10 frames at 30 seconds. Worked fine taking the jumping picture.
Was waiting for the battery to die. It is actually 8 years old so it had fun over time for sure.

Its a marvelous place to hunt on. Even if finds are few.

The HOT picture was taken when i hit some puff balls.

    Have a nice weekend guys.

Thanks I enjoyed that post, I agree that the 8 x 6 coil is a cracker, ideal for woods and you can swing it all day.

Great photos, and I agree it's a brilliant little coil.

    Thanks!
Yes Scott, I enjoy the nature there, a preacefull place for sure.
I have been using 6"-15" coils on this ground. But it always amazes me when the small coils find decent stuff
on a place that we worked on for so many hours.
