Its not a pressure issue, I can really push in on the trigger and it will not pinpoint or function
sorry i didnt mean that i had trouble keeping the trigger held down even though i was pressing hard it still went off pinpoint ??? but that dosent sound like the problem you have, i would take it to the dealer so he can have a look.

I purchased this used so I will haft to send it in to be serviced, I see why they where selling it now, I was just wondering if anyone has had a faulty trigger and what occured to fix the issue

It can be a volume related problem,
Set too low and it cuts out.
This machine was made too complicated. It should have been made like the ET's menu but in each mode you could change everything for each mode.
As the CTX is its hard to figure out what button does what and i cannot get the best out of mine on the field-beach because i for one cant remember how to change certain things.
Haven't noticed a problem with my pinpoint mode, only used it once though, will now check later.
No its not volume related, it seems like a software issue, not mechanical issue, it just doesnt switch over to pinpoint sometimes when the trigger is pressed, Minelab sent me a shipping label to send it in no questions asked, they are really great to deal with
i thought software issues could be put right using the interface of the computer - so seems strange they would need it back.

Can I reinstall the software on xchange2 ? I reset the ctx to factory setting is there something else I can do?
tombs can best answer that - my understanding was that minelab could fix glitches with updates for software problems

just to add - that was one of its features i thought - software updates / fix tools etc
I have to admit that i initialy criticised the position of this button due to the fact it was awkward to pinpoint,But i rarely pinpoint now and rely mainly on the first tonal response just as i did with the Etrac.
Its is awkward to press though in my opinion.
i never liked pinpoint because it could pull you away from the target in trashy grounds - the advice i was given was get your ear in ....and it was great advice - still you need it to work all the same.
cant edit on this thread - that been said im talking of when i used the etrac - the ctx is a slightly different animal
Yes I very seldum use the pinpoint feature, its just driving me nuts knowing that it no longer works, if there was no warrenty left I wouldnt bother getting it fixed, Im just hopeing that this isnt gonna be a problem machine going forward
i can understand your concern ...id get it fixed ....as the lads say minelab from experience put things right and have good aftercare so see how you go and make your decision when the bug no longer bugs you....which it would me too.
the guys who have them seem to be happy with them - so give it a chance when put right if still not happy ....they seem to hold their price ......goodluck with it ...hope you make a special find for your upsetting start to the ctx.

Yes gazz I tryed the volume, I have it all packed up and gonna send it in on monday, does anyone know what the turnaround time would be roughly, and does minelab email you when the ctx is done being serviced with a return tracking number
One thing I notice with the pin point mode when I use the trigger.
The machine goes into PP (display changes) but the volume when off target is too quite and only when directly over target does it scream at me.
Is there a way of upping the volume on the lower end just for PP ?
They require it back to diognose what the problem is. No-one here can say what the problem is for sure.

okay dave - i know nothing about them so should stay stum ....thought maybe a reboot may fix if software related.....like a corrupt file been rewritten over...similar to what can be done with a pc.
sending back can be a pain when you want to be enjoying your machine - so nice to atleast try and exhaust all options
What pinpoint mode are you in.Sizing or Normal.As these will give you a different audio response dendent on how you move over the target.
Update, my detector reached the service center today and this is the email I recieved,
