John, work on it please your in an ideal location. The two miles is nothing. Restrict tickets to the first 50 - 100 Platinum members that apply. Any more than that would ruin it.
Why Waste time using an ordinary detector when you have the option to own a CTX3030.

Downside is its about 2 mile from campsite to fields and limited parking.....working on that with somebody else.

As I said earlier its soooo difficult sticking the pieces together!
    Great idea JC.
If the camp site could accommodate us lot that is the first bit. If you have the land and there may be goodies that is second. Maybe the farmer could throw together some transport for a fee. Something like at WW, a quid for a ride in the wagon behind the tractor.
I am sure many will offer to help run it. I definitely would offer to help anyway I could.
But remember that you will have to dress up in a "fairy ungodly mother suit"

Would be September or post harvest at least, been working on the guy for a while...mostly letters and paperwork as is the way with the Estates around here! I`ve pitched it as 100 max to start which he`s comfortable with, he`s currently away in Dubai for a month so I`ll write again late Oct/early Nov so its waiting on his desk.
The campsite were very keen & are also a farming family but they have a "no detecting policy"....... trying my powers of persuasion on them is proving "difficult" !!
We`ll see........ if they`ve had a 20% reduction in harvest (as some have up here) a few bob might come in handy!!

its a great place for kids my family loved it especially the castle and the train but i think i will leave them at home next time to as it meant i had to go and stay in a centrally heated caravan and have my food made for me instead of camping with the boys.............oh yeah and my miss's spent a bloody grand in a week i could have BOUGHT a caravan for that!

You should tell her, she should be ashamed of herself, the money shes spending is for your next detector upgrade.

Re: Corfe 2013 poll opinions please

Ouch! a grand in a week!

I think with my share of the cottage rent plus beer and eating out a few times, plus some diesel money for Offa it came in at around £300 for a week. And of course the stater offsets that a bit

If the venue were moved to Japan I'd be there in a heartbeat. Any chance of that happening?

You could all come down here to Oz for a rally.
Thousands of acres of gold diggings to detect in State forest here in Victoria. No permissions to beg for and no farmers to pay, just a miners right for a few dollars.

Re: Corfe 2013 poll opinions please

    Good news..... reply has arrived.
Agreement in priniciple, just need to arrange to meet Mr Triple Hyphenated Name and talk numbers, dates etc........ we may get camping on his airfield which is bang in the middle of his Estate.
He`s also on min-till/direct drill so it`ll be stubble at worst or cultivated at best.
One small glitch.....I have no idea whats in it as its never been touched!! I know there was civil war activity but anything Roman & before will be a shot in the dark!
And your not getting it all in one go...its 1800 acres!

Re: Corfe 2013 poll opinions please

Sounds ideal John. If its more than a dayer then bogs and showers are an obvious. Is there not a proper campsite nearby with all the facilities, it does make life a lot simpler and less smellier

Caro...... two words...second one opposite to on! lmao.
I will be in discussion with landowner regarding "facilities", although the prospect of us lot rampaging around his hall might fill him with dread!
Most of the "proper" campsites within reasonable distance are Caravan Club sites.....improvisation maybe needed!!

The main reason I made it later this year was because it was looking very unlikely that we could have even had half the donkey field at the earlier date we usually do in september. Because camping generally has got more popular theres no way they wanted us there when they were full of late holidaymakers. The second reason was the lateness of the season and the fact bad weather could have affected fields available also.
If Corfe does go ahead next year theres a possibility we might not be able to have the fields in the village. Finds were seriously reduced up there anyway this year because its had us on it for twelve years and finds dont get replaced and theres no way Im seeding it just to keep you lot happy.
If we did do a social gathering there in future years say with a count of 20-30 of the more hardy regular members for three days theres no way I could pay three farmers a share and also have some left to put to forum funds out of what we normally charge.
I think the format would have to be a much smaller gathering of the die hard members who mostly want to meet up and chat anyway but with detecting available just on Norden farm so that there would only be one farmer, Jonathon to pay. Theres no way we can pay another farmer plus his landlord like I have done in the past for that extra land, specially with the amount of finds that came off this year up there, people would soon start complaining with nothing coming up.

Theres no more land in that area we can remotely think about securing in the future. Being mostly big estates and National trust owning most of it they just dont want to know even if you offered them megabucks which we can't.
I think Corfe as a venue for a reasonable amount of people has had its day.
The main MLO rally in the future is going to have to move to a different area, somewhere with similar shower & toilet facilities to corfe campsite nearby or on site.
Bedford is another possibility for an added venue like this year, but thats down to Dave Phillips and not going to benefit MLO funds like corfe.
If anybody has got ideas and an access to a thousand acres plus a campsite on or nearby that would last us several more years then let us know please. It must preferably be in the centre of the country so everybody could get there easily. I think its going to be a tall order.

2010 Weekend wanderers at wantage was a great rally would be good if MLO could get that site! plenty of finds and great facilitys.

I have been to Corfe each year since 2010, for those who havent been you dont know what your missing. You arrive to be greeted by like minded genuine friends who are there to detect, have a good time and PARTY, the only down side is the day you have to leave and wait again till next year to come again. For me detecting isnt the priority, the get together is no one. One thing you can look forward to is the hill a casual stroll up a gentle slope its well worth the effort to go up there the views are fantastic and there have been numerous Roman coins and the odd stater found up there.
