    Re: Mlo Corfe Rally

An excellent week although finds were few the meeting of friends more than made up for that. I had a bad day on Friday (knee pain) and was going to leave on Saturday morning, but im glad I stayed, found NOWT but OH BOY what a night. I beleive that it might be the last Corfe but I hope something else is aranged to enable us all to meet up again. Norden was like a gold mine which sadly is played out, as the years go on the goodies are getting harder to find.
I have heard that there is another rally on the farm in a couple of weeks, good luck to them because finds are going to be few, I am surprised at someone else going there because whole farm, every field as been done to death over 10 years. Thank you all for making my week there special. Dave.

    Re: Mlo Corfe Rally

thanks everyone for a great weekend, just got back now after a 5hr drive.
some good bits came up but then you would expect that from the mlo boys n girls...........i have never seen so many people detecting so carefully at a rally.
i had about 7 roman's 1 hammy 2 strap ends and a nice buckle, but to give you an idea of what it was like i only heard of 1 old penny come up and my most common finds where shot from shot guns and air rifle pellets so targets where thin on the ground which was fine for me but i feel really sorry for the guys who are paying 30 pounds a day to go there next.........they have been done big time!
i will post some pics soon as i have recovered from my 10 days detecting oh yeah ill post the video of Gary as the fairy oh my god mother

Almost home again, on the boat to Calais now. Didnt do much detecting this year, but had as much fun as the years before. Was so nice to meet you all again and to meet new people. Big tnx to Tony and Gwen for arranging everything again and great somebody took the effort of bringing all the wood and the firepit!

    Re: Mlo Corfe Rally

Awesome rally as ever, thanks Tony and everyone else
Everything I found was hammered penny size or smaller.. Not much there for the golf swingers, detector racers and quiet runners!
I had 2 silver hamsters, a copper arabic hammo, two small roman, ring brooch, and some other bits and bobbers!

I for one will be there at Corfe next year no matter what form it takes, it's too special to stop and maybe the two day format is a good answer..
Will post a proper report later this week

    Re: Mlo Corfe Rally

There is no more land on that farm, period, so dont anybody get too excited about any new prospects for the future. We are exploring prospects of going somewhere else next year so any more Corfes will be strictly low key and social mainly. We've had 12 years there now, the lands got tired and so am I
Why Waste time using an ordinary detector when you have the option to own a CTX3030.

    Hi everyone.
First time for me at the Corfe Rally . I did not find anything with the detector. LOL
Found a very nice group of people though and enjoyed the days I came.
I tried to get the guy from Wales ( sorry I did not get your name ) out of the mud with my shogun but just ended up with mud all over inside and out of my vehicle and he was still stuck solid .
I did pick up a nice stone in the field that caught my eye as I was detecting which could be a stone age tool ( polished, shaped and showing working signs, nice ) Thanks for all the organisers for the opportunity to be in that lovely location.

    Re: Mlo Corfe Rally

Thanks again Tony for a cracking weekend in a superb location.
There were still finds it was just harder than normal....just the turn of the plough. If your still finding little bits of non ferrous and the like then its never "worked out". Cracking social as ever....be interesting to see the video clips!!
Finds wise for me.... Eddy III half groat, couple of belt mounts AND.... I broke my Roman drought....ended up with 6 after finding a little patch to work. As is always the way there are hundreds of acres that change every year..you just need to find the right bit.
I`ve always seen it as a social gathering with some detecting..long may it stay that way.

Peterhobby, that was Richard. Has anyone seen him since he poured out half a pint of my very dodgy rum on Saturday night?

I would attend another corfe, lovely area, walking, beaches and even enjoy the the thrill of the chase ; detecting Norden farm, the finds were hard to find, no one said it would be easy nor was it. You have to put your coil over it to find it, some did, some did not, well thats detecting in the real world ! Well done Scot, and thank you Tony and co, the rally was as expected.
