    Sea Detecting question

    CTX 3030
Having used the excalibur 2 with great success this year I purchased the CTX a few weeks ago in a hope to better discriminate against the huge amount of dross in the sea.

I have set up the CTX with the beach program and modified it to 4 FE tones with a tone band 11-13 for a clear tone where the shinny stuff should be.

Tone response normal, recovery deep, and low trash.

I am wondering if I should set it to ground coin separation as wet sand (very wet ) is mineralised ?

I do miss the tones of the excalibur as some trash does stand out due to distortion of the tone and or frequency.

The volume of the waterproof headphones is too low to hear the threshold as the ambient wave noise even on calm day is too low (this is being addressed by minelab)

Any other thoughts or suggestions ?

    thanks

Well I have just done a week in Spain with mine.......will be having words with Minelab on Monday regarding a BIG problem. Will await the response from Minelab before posting details.

PS, the sands were high and soft with very few finds apart from coins:-(

Sorry to hear about the poor hunting conditions. And interested to hear what happened with your machine and how Minelab responds.

I have tweaked my settings for sea use.
Recovery fast and recovery deep are off.
    Sensitivity - 3 (minus 3)
    combined tones
    normal separation.

The sands have moved a lot over the last few weeks so I think there is a lot to find when it pulls back again.

Found my first gold ring today with ctx 5.5 grams 12K white gold, big too as its over 1 inch in diameter.

I know minelab are working on the waterproof headphone volume issue.

That should be auto sensitivity minus 3.

Have emailed minelab and by the looks of it they aren't interested, I had mine for a week or so and thought it was my hearing so drill a few holes to make it so I can hear them (bad idea not normal speakers) so I replaced the speakers with good quality predictor speaker what a differents that made. But the only thing is I can't stick my head under the water

Will be interested to hear how you get on with Minelab Pastyman, I know there have been issues with it falsing in the waves so the sensitivity has to be lowered but I thought that was all. Good luck and hope you get it sorted.
