A SILVER ring found in Hampshire has been declared treasure trove by an inquest.
The 17th Century hawk ring, or vervel, was discovered in Micheldever, near Winchester , by metal detectorists.
The ring has not yet been valued but was declared treasure trove by Deputy Coroner for Central Hampshire Simon Burge. It is over 300 years old and more than ten per cent precious metal.
It is not known whether or not the British Museum will acquire the ring from Winchester Museums Service.
