    Barmouth

    Hi Guys

I'm stopping at a farm B&B near Barmouth near the end of October to detect on a farm that has some really good ancient history around it but I'm not able to check in until 3pm. So I intend on going on the beach for a while but I have read that the sand is very soft at Barmouth and the finds are scarce.

Can anyone reccommend where the best place is to go in the area for a few hours?

    Many thanks.

If the fairground is there try the beach around that area.

just on your way in to town (ie:coming from bala) look down to the left where there is a little ramp harbour (maybe interesting) .try around there at low tide .as for the main beach it gets hammered nearly every night by locals.loads of alluminium scraps pellets in the sand all the way up to tal-y-bont.
apparently?? in world war 2 an american bomber blew up in mid air training and scattered pieces of melted alluminium for miles .i did find a few georgians in the shingle a few weeks back.if its modern cash and jewelry take Captainpugwash's advice, hes forgoton more than i know about beach detecting
