thanks guys but i feel that the real finds are it the grass land and woods surrounding this stretch of coast but are way out of reach for detectorists as this is a country park and permission would be next to impossible too obtain from local gvmt, but a nice place all the same ill have to check the tides for my next visit

    Great pics!
There's gotta be at least one ring somewhere at that beach just waiting to be liberated!
Junk can be a 'barameter' of good finds to come....lets us know people were there not only dropping junk but coins and jewelry too.

Too bad about the park. Some of the best sites here are on State or National Park property, off limits to detectors.
Here in the States we have to settle for City or County Parks and public beaches where permission is generally not required. The downside, most have been pounded for decades.

Hi mop, im sure there are a lot of goodies around here, its just a matter of walking over them and when i do everyone will know about it unfortunately most councils have a rather misinformed image of detectorists , they think we go around digging great big pits with little or no regard for the environment, OH hark at me, newbie to the hobby and getting all righteous LOL
i think that no matter how heavily an area gets pounded there will still be goodies that are missed and left behind for the next person and as technology progresses the deeper targets will become visible to us so keep hitting those parks
anyway the 2nd pic is the view across Belfast Lough to Whitehead, Carrickfergus, glad you enjoyed them mate, HH

went back to the beach today, collected £4.68p and thought id found an old silver coin, it was wedged in a crack in the rock in a rock pool, it had obviously been there for some time, unfortunately it turned out to be an Elizabeth II two shillings in pretty bad condition, couldnt get a date....... GUTTED
never mind, it was a good day with plenty of sunshine
