Very pleased the Ctx the last few days.

    CTX 3030
Well im very chuffed indeed with the way the Ctx has performed the last few days.I have had over 40 hours with no freeze ups in total now,so it seems that glitch is sorted for good.Touch Wood.

I did feel that there is a simple reason for this, possibly interference from my Smart phone and or the wirless unit which i now have fixed behind me on my belt strap so no problems at all.

Some one at a dig i was at the other day asked me if i thought it was just a waterproof Etrac and i replied absoloutely not.The depth is similar if not the same as the Etrac but the signals are far better and seperated.

The Target sepertion is better, sharper and more defined, and where i had problems with the higher tones on the E-trac as many still do,i have had no probems with the Ctx.Period.

The target signals just jump out at you.I have had some very small silver bits and bobs and amazingly the signal,s for these very small items were amazingly loud and sharp.I also cannot understate this enough.

I have found plenty of Small and Medium copper/brass/Lead finds, all giving excellent signal clarity and find hammered silver a slightly higher Tone based on (Gordons) Tadpole Programme, but have adapted well to this and find the very low growls are nearly allways Foil and allways dig these just incase.

The Gps and mapping features are superb,I cannot understate this enough also, despite being very critical initialy on the launch and whether or not people would use this, but it is excellent fun,and very usefull.

Any moans and groans i have with the Ctx is firstly the Bloody, little red rubber seal that keep.s popping out despite using vaseline under the seal,i feel Minelab should have used a rubber (0)Ring in stead of this very flimsy elastic band style seal.

The Velcro arm Strap like the first Ctx i had is Fraying at the edges again and will soon be a bird nest,so may have to renew this very soon.

The Ctx is very prone to falling down if not kept very close to ones self and has fallen more than once especialy now that i am using it wirlessly all the time.
This needs a good idea from someone to design something to stop this happening.

Iv just forked out £20.00 quid from J.A For a Control box cover, for a two grand detector and like many or all Slr Camears where you get a Lense cover you should get something to protect the Ctx 3030 Screen for free in the Box.

Finally,The best thing of all about this detector is the the ergonomics and ballance. Its never stops amazing me how light it feels,I picked up an Etrac the other day and i could not belive the difference.
All i can say to the Critics of which i was one and embarrasingly so.
DONT KNOCK IT UNTIL YOU HAVE TRIED IT.IT REALLY IS THE DOGS GONADS.

Got to agree on all of the above, I've been fortunate not to have had a single problem with mine ( touch wood) what I've done with the rubber gasket is to put about 4 tiny and I mean about the size of a grain of salt spots of bathroom silicon onto the bottom of the gasket then carefully fit it so the spots are on the bottom then fit and clamp the battery and leave overnight. This will hold the seal in place when you remove the battery and not affect it's sealing ability when needed. If you've had grease on there already you'll need to give the groove a good clean around the areas where the bathroom silicon will be sticking.

    Hi Whiggy,
I'm really glad you're getting on well with the CTX now after the earlier troubles you had.

Great post Keith and I fully agree with you to have to pay anything for a cover for this machine is a disgrace, all buyers of this machine should be sent one FOC.

    Totaly agree Dave.
I have just recieved the Cover and it was fantastic delivery and service from Ja as usual. However the Cover looks very cheap indeed and probably cost around a Quid per unit to make.
    Not a bad profit Ehh.

Glad I bought mine for the performance not the looks cut down and iPad screen cover for the screen itself but wish I had something for the body as its gonna get scratched very easily in the field!!

Agree with you on the signals whiggy.. I think I've mastered the low tones now and starting to get the high ones that used to fiddle my head on the ET! I found the pinpoint trick as well and it's a good indicator on deep iron, the target trace on pinpoint is the clincher for me at the moment! Being able to see and hear the target like that is revolutionary

Would live to be able to set different Responses to different tone areas tho. I like the low tones in smooth but the high tones are so much crisper in normal!

Keith I was peed off with the non existant stand as well so after lots of experimenting I have used an adjustable camera case strap as a bunjee ,I have put 2 large O rings thru the 2 recesses under the control box and joined with a Key ring in the front then use the connector on the strap to join on after loads of faffing about I attatch the other end to my findselt and hey presto when I dig it doesnt touch the ground

Sounds Great Mick,Can you post a photo of what you have done with regards to the fall protection, just to see exactly what you have done.I may just experiment my self and design some method similar to yours when i see it.
    Thanks

Good update Keith. Have been holding off on the CTX until I hear longer term reviews from folk like yourself. Very interested on yours and others viewpoint. Nice one.

    Good post Whiggy!!
Only one thing that I would add, I really hate the Koss headphones, the lead isnt anywhere near long enough and whenever I bend over to dig, they fall off. Total rubbish IMHO.
If anyone wants to buy mine at Corfe, they'll be very welcome!
