    Early morning...

    Hey

Got out for just a couple of hours up in the centre of town this morning. The water was still pretty high even at low water (better tomorrow) and most of my favourite areas weren't even exposed...so really going for more of the element of luck than skill in a run like this...but you never know of course. Managed the usual amount of modern smash for a quick trip, all goes into the box for the coinstar. .

I'm going to post up something I found a little while ago and didn't think much of at the time (assumed modern), but I've since seen similar on websites that deal in artefacts listing them as medieval badges made for the knights of the holy sepulchre. I wondered what you guys think of that? As I've found auction websites (often good places to trawl through images for ID's) aren't always as accurate with their info as you'd expect.

    Copper alloy...found it folded.

    Cheers!

Depends on the day Brian...in terms of the denomination of mod coins. Maybe something to do with the strength of the current and height. I believe nowadays that the lower the low tide the higher the level of deposits (in my favourite areas anyway) and the more heavier items that are left.

I went out for a couple of hours this evening, chasing the tide out till dark. I dug up 115 coins in that time, only one £1 coin in the lot of that. Lol. Quite a few 20p's at least...at least.... Definitely not tuning them out. I run the xterra on all metal everytime and the laser I only take the iron discrimination up about halfway so as to get rid of the small ferrous stuff like little nails and make the bigger stuff choppy and easy to hear. Some days you may get up to ten pound coins out of the foreshore, but mostly it's a mass of small stuff hurled in to make a wish I guess. Cheers!
