Beach finds 12/09/12 (Terra morning CTX afternoon)

With my last years high score well and truly smashed i am just getting the extra now to pay to 2 good coarses at the end of the year. Bramber nursing home Peacehaven where my Dad spent the last few years of his life and to Cancer Research .
This morning i went to the beach with the Terra at 6am , only stayed for 2 hours and 5 minutes but in that time i found £22.71p , it was very quiet on the tops which it will get quieter as the year goes by .

Most of the money was found in two big pocket dumps and little single finds.

This afternoon after seeing the beach had been scuffed up a bit at the lower tide mark i decided to go with the CTX and also to give it another try , this time with new settings and the tones on 50 conduct.
I got there at gone 2 pm after waiting for a delivery and started searching to tidals , most
of that area is very quiet and massively overloaded with shingle but it has been scuffed flat by the waves so was worth a try. I got started and almost immediately found few 20p coins but little else for a while.
Then all of a sudden the coins started coming in and at the end i found a total of £19.86p to make my daily total of £42.57p
    Coins before cleaning ,

    coins after cleaning,

I think i have set the CTX up right now and the 50 conduct tones is the way to go.
Found the depth of target meter to be very accurate.
Numbers were on the ferrous side a little out compared to the ET but the tones and the conduct numbers gave the game away.
Am used to the weight .
The screen is a little dull and unless you have the back light on at lowest setting can be a bit hard to see.
A must is to have box covers or the beach detecting will scratch the hell out of the machine eventually, at the moment i have a solution but it is very temperary.
Other than that i find it very similar to the E.Trac.
Not sure which machine i am out with next time , may be the CTX again but not sure.

    Well done Richard.
Interesting report on the ctx too.
I quite agree that a box cover is a must, as our sand is sharp, let alone the salt crystals. It must be a little awkward, as it is a swimming costume that is required, which protects the screen from scratching and doesn't cause drag in the water. You may have to use the old faithful clear plastic bag.

Choices, choices eh? Which amazing machine will I use today? Awesome haul on the coins there as usual...in fact I think you've inspired me to head out this weekend and try my luck.

Not missing them , they are just being uncovered from the over the top shingle levels. Not had a decent storm for ages and it shows Steve.

That's a nice haul Good work! Last year's total is disappearing into the distance. . Apparently strong winds (although hitting the north of the UK hardest at first) are due to start kicking in in the next day or so...hope that stirs up the waters and the sands for you!

If the weather holds i could smash the last two years total but i have calculated i will get to around £2600 plus rings.
    All spent already.
Well almost , the first £1000 saved for rainy day, £300 for a fridge freezer , £640 for another X.Terra 705 plus Nel 18kht Hunter coil ( was going to pay off the CTX finance early) just had to get a back up Terra , its bloody brilliant and had to have the coil , and £400 in total for two good coarses when i get to that amount. After that all the rest will go to paying for memberships and books i buy each year.
Rather do beach hunting than working overtime , need the wind down even if it wouldn't pay as much as my job.

Anyway many people here find dozens of rings worth more than all the money i find each year. Think i have been lucky this year also , though it has been a quiet year down here . Blame the economy and the Olympics and a bit of poxy weather.

Little sand down here . Unless there is a very low tide.

    HI Rich,
I just started up metal detecting again and wow your diging up coins like i'm diging up bottle tops but after having my 705 for just over a week my best day on the beach was yesturday when some one asked me to look for there ring. It took me 20minets to find it and the smile on his face was nice to see, kept pating me on the back and insisted on giving me £10 so and good finish to the day. sos about my spelling.
