    bad detecting!

i was checking out some metal detecting videos and happened across this by video by regtons, they have headed it tips and tricks and the intro shows a guy walk past the camera detecting with possibly the worst detecting style i have ever seen! are they having a laugh? 1 this is headed tips and 2 its supposed to be an advert for there shop! it looks like they have been learning detecting at the jed dod school of detecting
sorry to regtons if you read this but seriously, sort it out!

    Re: bad detecting!

Before ive looked at the link tombs , i saw two people detecting/ well swinging away this morning funny enough i was`nt going to bother mentioning anything about it but since you put this up , i had a little laugh after i spoke to one of them who was swinging like he had strimmer in fact it was a brand new Etrac and if his coil touched the ground all of a split second between the side swipes unreal,

i did have a chat to him (not to tell him how to but just a chat) he said he bought it 3 weeks ago and its the worst machine hes ever had not found a thing (ROFLMAO) hes even thought of sending it back as faulty , then i just had to show him to keep the F coil on the ground and go slow 10min later the spawny git got his first hammered , but talk about bad swing wish id videoed him .

Watched the vid and this guy this morning was worst than that

    Re: bad detecting!

I see one guy at digs on the swing his search coil is only in contact with the ground for an arc of 6 inches, at the top of his stroke the coil must be 12 inches high. The worst thing is that he is not new to detecting he as been at it 30 ish years.

Not laugh in their face , it's more of a friendly giggle that they blame luck or equipment rather than the obvious!

    Re: bad detecting!

The problem is that detecting is dead easy - you spend a few hundred notes on a bit of kit, go wave it about on a field and the TREASURE hurls itself out of the ground - dunnit?
The dozy clowns never think of reading up about the hobby, never watch anybody who might know what they were doing and never ask the seller if they have any tips. As some of you guys have already written they then go on for years doing the same thing. They get some finds but they leave lots behind for the likes of us!
If anyone asks I will willingly give them advice but if they want to go it alone, who am I to deny them their civil rights?
    Barrie.

    Re: bad detecting!

im going to have to apologize for this posting because i left this message for Nigel Ingram.

i hope the little intro where the guy walks past swinging the detector is a joke? what happened to overlapping sweeps and not raising the coil at the end of your sweep?

this morning he replied to my message

Hi Tombs, yes it was indeed a joke, knowing most experienced detectorists would pick up on it.......

so sorry Nigel for giving you grief about your "swing"

Seems very obvious to me atleast that it was just an intro. However saying that the Title tips and tricks doesnt quite match the theme of the Nel coil.
Mayby it should have been titled,The nel coil range from Regton,s.Lol

I just love "Aliens" the way their coils hover in the sky above the ground. Dont tell them more goodies for us earthlings.

I also love the helicopter guys on the beach who wave their coils at 100 mph at 500'.

I love the "golfers"...that's a good name for them. . I go pretty slow so I can hear every bit of brain damage the foreshore has for me...but as I've mentioned on other posts, there's a guy with all the kit you can buy shows up on my favourite spot on the river for a spot of golf now and then...charges about like a madman...he's in no mood to chat...glares at me and runs along at a trot each time. I figure he needs the exercise and let him go then feel smug when I go over the areas he's criss crossed and pull up coins. Then again, maybe he's just driven mad by all the iron and rusting 2p's. . I love them for their propaganda value...every time I get a bit of hassle on the home front about "you going out again?"...I pour a bucket of that sh*t into the coinstar and bring home notes. Rust adds up. .

Let the golfers run free! If they ask for advice...help...but if they don't...the exercise is good for 'em

The guy would be better off building sand castles. I managed 4mins of this madness.
Just wondering if anyone could endure the entire vid.
