If you don't set the arm rest back far enough properly for balance, you will feel the pain of using the detector. If the arm rest is set right and with the arm strap secured, and the detector lower rod at the right length. Mine is set just ahead of my elbow.

The detector should swing easily and balanced holding the grip with two fingers. Mine does, I've had no pain and believe me, try swinging a Fisher CZ-3D for 4hrs without a swingy thingy and you will feel the pain.

I had to order the arm rest extension rod for my AT-Pro to lessen the pain, after 4-5hrs I can still feel it with the AT-Pro, I've not felt arm nor shoulder pain with the CTX-3030 yet.

I'm in Canada and the manual comes on the DVD software disk. No paper manual.

    Hi

The provided manual is not what you are making it out to be it is actually only a Getting Started Guide, of the 89 pages only 9 is written in English and refers to 1 page of Congratulations on CTX Purchase, 1 page of CTX Parts, 3 pages of CTX Assembly & 2 pages of CTX Control Panel photograph.
This is the booklet which goes out worldwide, there is no paper back manual and the only manual is on the DVD software disk or as a download from the Minelab web site.
There is scope for someone to write a manual because Minelab are not interested in the least in providing one.

Does not say paper manual. Someone call Kellyco and ask them.
I would but I am afraid I would tell them what I think about them.

    Hi Barrie
    What is a landline?
Is that where you have a phone connected to the wall?
Just kidding mate. I thought they were a thing of the past in a household.
    Hope all is well.
Will we see you at Bedford, Corfe or WW?

    An interesting thread to read.

I kept my hand in my pocket and have stuck with my trusty Deus.

From what I read I have saved myself a couple of grand which I was able to use for a hernia operation that the NHS would not fund due to agism.Jerry.

PS See some of you at W/W if Iam up to it and will have a chance to see how much of the 3030 hype is really true.

Well don't mean to moan and gripe, but CTX coils float 11 and 17" when you bungee the machine under the handle.

This means that when you get a really deep DIG ME signal on the 17", fast 2 handed digging the coil floats on top of your scoop.
With a tethered and chest mounted excal you can put the coil aside and it stays put longer.
Same with the 11" coil it tends to float in stead of hugging the bottom like an excal coil.

Maybe it does the job on lakes with not a lot of wave action with shallow finds.
But on my sea shores targets are deep and the soft sand collapses in on you, that's why I need a fast 2 handed digging style.
    Usually a wheelbarrow per target.

17" punches and ID's deeper than the Excal, but machine floating in front of me is a real pain in the proverbial.

That or I need to change my approach.
    To be continued.

Thanks for that kind offer, Tony hunt also offered a couple of weeks back when he visited Bristol but I was not up to detecting.

Bristol area NHS this week refused a "small child" an operation because of the cost.

Perhaps that's part of the reason that Cameron has got RID of Lansley as he is now past his sell by date, lets see what Hunt does even if its to late for myself.

I stared driving again yesterday so I must start to visit a few prospective new farms for the off. Jerry.

Well, we have progressed slightly in that the handsets in our humble abode are wireless! Unfortunately we have virtually no mobile coverage at home due to the lie of the land. This is England! We invent lots of stuff and then give it away - usually for free, jet engines and hovercraft are just two examples of our useless politician's antics. There are plenty more! Don't get me going though!
When is Canada going to kick the frogs off those two islands in the St. Lawrence River??
Unfortunately I will not be at Corfe. It is a good job I didn't book anyway as my wife is having a tough time at present so I am head cook and bottle washer......
I thrash her every morning but her morale hasn't improved yet!
I'd love to meet everyone and have a good old mardle over a few pints.
All the more for you lot to find though. Enjoy!!!!!!!
    Barrie.
