Corfe Castle is a beautiful area to detect, and trail-jogging is great, up and down the hills with a great scenery.Dorset is one of my favorite countys in UK.

I think I would describe the Corfe get together as something very special, its when a group of like minded people who chat on a website all year round meet up with a common interest to seek the past, but that is only a small part of the rally, you will be hard pushed to better the friendship and warm welcome you receive there.
You will be comming to a beautiful area and from the top of the hill the views are breathtaking. This will be my third year at Corfe and I wouldnt miss it for anything.

    Re: 2012 Corfe Update.

    Stunning photos as always Mal.

A little Corfe update for all you firepit lovers. I had the Dragon sister from Corfe on the phone today. Good news is we are going to be allowed to have a fire this year but not where we have dug it in the past because it always leaves a mark and doesn't grow back.
The fire pit this year has to go on the hard roadway just along where the water tap is. The other news is that we are being allocated most of the donkey field with the exception of the lower line of pitches that they are still having trouble trying to get drained so that will be roped off.
Anybody coming who hasnt booked a hook up if they want electric better get on and do it pronto, apparently not too many have booked their places yet so dont dally and dont anybody park on pitch D5 by the watertap cos Ive bagged it this year for the RV .
All in all the Dragon sister was in quite a good mood

This year i have decided to have a change on the Saturday night food front. I am arranging for Billy the resident grub van guy at Norden to do us a Hog Roast. Doing a one off BBQ and the curries like we have done for the past 2-3 years is difficult to plan, very wasteful as in we had a lot left last year plus it ties some of us up all day on the saturday shopping and organising then cooking when we should all be enjoying the detecting every chance we get.
Its going to be far simpler if everyone just queues and pays billy for the number of Hog rolls they want on the night. Maybe if we have any vegetarians planning to be there they can let me know and we can see if we can arrange an alternative.
Im not sure yet also whats going to happen on the Raffle front. As everybody knows Gary is going to be there for a final year but he's no longer the owner of the forum so may not want to be involved as MC as in the past. It might be a good chance to look at doing things slightly differently maybe as far as how the Raffle and evening entertainment is carried out. There will definitely be a campfire if somebody digs a pit. What we have to consider is the nights will be drawing in a lot sooner being a lot later in september and its more likely to be wet & cold so do people want to chance sitting outside for 3-4 hours.

Lets have some ideas please. I also need an idea how many are still coming to Corfe so that we can judge the catering and get the right size Pig on the spit.

IF YOUR ON THE CORFE LIST AND YOU CANT NOW COME PLEASE POST TO THAT EFFECT, THANKS.
Don,t know if this is good or silly advice but maybe some of you should/could take a few windbreaks to cordon an area off around the fire pit, to try an keep the wind off you......I wont be there so it dont matter to me ......Just a idea/suggestion....Hope you all have a great time... :Thumbs

Norden has been tidied up a lot since this pic was taken. Even the road surface has been relaid.

    1. Get on the Norden farm website, phone them up and book camping (say you are with the metal detectors and want the donkey field). Pay deposit

Just noticed that you're from Dorset so might not be camping, if that's the case pm tony and ask to be added to the list which he has
You won't regret it, it's a great friendly rally
