The Host with the Most.! Please host me for a hunt.

Hi peeps, this may sound pretty cheeky for a noob to the forums (and i hope its in the right place) but as my old dad used to say " If you dont ask, you wont get" its got me a few black eyes and busted lips in the past but also some of what i asked for ... so thanks dad, god bless.

im completely new to MD'ing and have no permissions as yet, i have tried searching for clubs in and around where i live (Belfast) but the only lead i came up with was the "Banbridge Club" but they are only together in name atm, Colin "the main contact" told me that they hadnt had a Hunt in two years or even a meeting because of other commitments/bereavements but too give him a call in 6 mths time too see what the situation is.

anyway, back to the the thread title i will be heading to Manchester sometime next month too visit my son and my grand children who live in a small place called Cheadle, now i know for a fact that my wife and the rest of them will be doing the "Trafford & Arndale centre shuffle" but thats not my thing so i was wondering if any of you kind peeps who live in the north would be kind enough to host me on one of your permissions for a day "weather permitting" i wouldnt mind doing a bit of travelling "100 miles or so" and if you have the etrac knowledge "all the better too teach me" i would sing your praises.

anyway thanks for reading and once again, sorry if this is in the wrong place

Maybe if you had a little more respect and stopped calling the lads and lasses on this forum "peeps", more would take you seriousely.
I presume you don't mean to offend, but I for one don't like it.

WoW, are you serious ? the term "peeps" is not a euphemism for an offensive word, merely a friendly collective and how you or anyone else could possibly take offence to its use is beyond me, i find your tone condescending which I do find offensive, however you are entitled to your opinion as are we all but if i happen to write any other words that you find offensive i would appreciate it if you could address your concerns to myself via a pm instead of embarrassing me in the open forums TYVM.

    " Peeps ", offensive ???
Jeeesus now I`ve heard it all !!!!!
Bloody hell no wonder the Worlds in the state its in. Political correctness at it worst . I could think of far worst names you`d be more inclined to stick "offensive" on , but for the sake of decorum I won`t.

Personally and as a moderator I do not find the word "peeps" offensive but then again maybe I do not know the real meaning of the word.
I though is was slang for "people" and I am sure that is how it was intended to be understood.

    Anyway back on topic please.
    Thanks
    Scott

    Minty

If you have dates in mind you may fall lucky in so much that you could join a club dig such as Central Searchers, weekend wanderers or N.E.W.S. All have Saturday/Sunday digs

It will cost you in the region of £12 for the dig and no doubt any e-trac owners on the dig will give you all the help you need with the ET

It is slang for `people` , and I`m 100% sure it was used in that sense.

Keep trying Minty I think what Jeff maybe meant was give us a chance to get to know you a bit first, personally I didn't find your message disrespectful at all! Cheeky? Yes but there's nothing wrong with being cheeky

When you get a date post again and there may be digs or rallies happening that you could jump onto for the day!
    All the best
    Pete

Re: The Host with the Most.!

Thanks again guys, some really good suggestions about rallies and the likes.
"peepsgate" is water under the bridge, im not one for holding grudges and im sure Jeff is a really nice guy, he may have been having an off day (we all have them) i lived in Munster Germany for 3 yrs as a young man in the early 80's and as far as i know it wasnt offensive then, maybe it is now, i dont know but lets move on
Tombs, what can i say ? such a generous offer, my faith is restored, i have been to Brecon and Snowdonia in the past, even had a girlfriend who lived in Betws-Y-Coed, lovely girl but i digress, Wales isnt that far but as im only staying a few days it might be just out of reach this time around but i certainly would like to take you up on your generous offer in the future, Top Man
    thanks for looking guys

Oh my goodness, I owe a VERY big apology and I do apologise to minty fresh noob. It's a case of a mixup between German and English.
If you say over here that somebody peeps (spellt pieps, but pronounced "peeps") it means they are a bit of a nut.

You must be off your head! Bei dir piepts wohl.
You're off your head! [coll.] Du hast ja einen Piep! [ugs.]

I am a bit embaressed about this, sorry.
