Dug these things up today along with a few clad coins.
The silver dime is great but for sure at first glance i thought the brass cylinder object was a 45-70 blank cartridge. When i looked at the bottom, it sure looked like a mis-fired primer.
When i got it home and cleaned it up it had Helen Neushaefer inscribed on the side. WTF?
After the crud came off and i got a good look at the base it definitely was not a cartridge?
Did a little on line research on the name and it turns out to be an old lipstick case!
In fact fleabay just sold a similar 'vintage' one in similar condition for $30. People will buy anything!
