    Beach finds 21,22/08/12(Terra)and 23/08/12 (CTX) Bl**dy eck!

On Tuesday night after work Terry (Goldfinger) and i went to the beach for the evening with the intention of staying the whole night , well we did not , we stayed till the last bus he could get back home . For a bus driver it did not matter as there are buses most of the night for me .
We got started and it was a slow evening but we did quite well , he used his CS1220xd and i my 705 . By the end he had around £22 and i finished with £26.04p ,a 1 Euro coin ,a 20 Euro cent and 2 other foreign coins.

On Wednesday afternoon Terry (CS1220xd) and his mate James (Quattro) and i (705) met for another session , i got there a couple of hours earlier and searched the Marina to the Pier finding a few coins, more as i got to the Pier.
They arrived ass i got there and we all got down to it , it was slow in places but steady . By the end ,cant remember the time but not late Terry had i think over £10 James £24 plus and i had £32.14 and a Pier token.

Today i went again with the CTX , i got there at 6am and i was hoping that the "strand " would be clear of shingle but when i got there i was wrong and it is building up again so i was forced to do the tops which i was not keen on being new to the machine and the tops being very trashy .
I think i have sorted the settings though but i still feel the ET is better for tones and the numbers seem to come up quicker on the ET , thats my feeling . Anyway i was gobsmacked to start finding pound after pound and fairly few other coins , it was almost as if the beach was growing them
There were 3 others on the beach detecting when i arrived and i could not believe they left so much for me. by about 8.30 i have mostly finished the main beach and had £36.01p that i texted Terry, he phoned back and we chatted , i think he did not believe it and James definately wont LOL , after that i started again and by 10am i had finished with £46.68p and a watch which i used to get the time as the clock on the CTX is so small .Meaning for the week from Saturday i have found £236 and i have now broken through my total for last year and still slightly over 4 months to go .

I think the CTX has surprised me and it means i can now trust it to find me the goodies in the leaner times of the year and the tidals for the gold .
I think the clock should have a short cut on one of the buttons so you can have it displayed large when needed. Other than that i am happy with it , oh and a set of box covers .
I did think it was heavy but i think that may be tiredness from lack of sleep over the last few days .
The screen is not to bad but during the day if you go by numbers and i think with this machine a lot will and certainly on the beach it needs a light on and i set mine at 1 the minimum.
I definately will be keeping my ET though as i must have a back up and i will use it from time to time, i dont think there is much in it in terms of capability other than one swims and one drowns if it tries
Still my Terra is still the machine of choice when doing the tops , its light and very economical and punches way above its price range on the beach.

If Des or Finbarr read this then i can only say Thanks for the best machines i have ever had .

If a new Terra is in the pipeline then can it have a straight stem , better menu , Pro coil , 3 x more numbers and ET tones please. But no GPS or other stuff thats on the CTX . Keep it simple .

I'm amazed at how much money comes off your beach, I wish mine was that productive. Still, i haven't been beach detecting very long but have had over £50 and 2 gold rings, so at least I'm off the mark

    I like it.
I think one of your earlier posts you were definately not to happy on the ctx.
Good to see that things are picking up. Maybe it will also pay for itself.
Thanks for your very excellent posts, always good to read.

I wish my beach finds were as clean as that all my coins come out covered in crud and take a lot of cleaning but the all go in the parking meters , i used to detect on the south coast shingle beaches and the coins came up clean , now i am detecting in west Wales on sandy beaches but the coins sink down out of detector depth , and when i lived in Kent the beaches had a chalk base so the coins stayed there untill a storm moved the sand .

My beaches are sand with underlaying clay. Been sanded in for the best part of 2 months.
Waiting for the winter storms over here.

Been fine tuning my dry beach hunting and beach trail hunting in the meanwhile.

But Nuke-em well, nickname says it all! Amazing hauls every time!

    hi richard,
still pulling out the goodies i see,the good thing about brighton is the night life as many peps turn up on the beach after the clubs shut and seed the beach for you,one day i will come down and have a go.

You are correct in many ways, but anyone detecting should know the risks we take with gangs of drunks. We run the gauntlet every time for a pouchful of coins.
Fortunately we are not the stereotypical Southern softies and can look after ourselves. One of the local detectorists did take a beating earlier on in the summer trying to to detect at night.

I think you are to busy finding hammies on digs Steve to bother with a uncertain beach, and the summer is going to be gone soon , wait did it ever arrive?
