    NEL Tornado Coil falses? fixed

Been using my NEL Tornado for a few weeks now and it found me a lot of silver passed over by the stock eTrac ProCoil.

But the coil progressively little by little started falsing the more i used it. At first i chalked it up to stubbly weeds on hi manual sensitivity but then it started to happen on Auto sensitivity also.

OK, i know this has been said here before to clean the coil. So i finally removed the Tornado's coil cover and to my surprise or horror, there was sand, grit, dirt and even long weeds embedded between the cover and the coil itself. Cleaned it all up, replaced the cover back and its as good as new again.

The cover does not exactly provide a dust, air tight fit to the coil assembly at least with my setup.
Lesson learned....periodically remove the cover and clean it along with the coil itself.

Clean it after every trip, takes seconds literally. Failing that silicone it in place and keep the crap out. Personally I'd sooner clean it.
Why Waste time using an ordinary detector when you have the option to own a CTX3030.

My NEL Tornado 18.75kHz falses in wet grass. Its a great coil but have problems with just moisty grass.Obviously Im not alone having this problem.A test were made in Denmark and they found out just the same.

This is for Xterra line though.

But on other ground, like ploughed/rolled fields its a great coil.

Interesting. I have noticed that dirt does tend to accumulate between the coil and the cover with the NELs moreso than other coils but I haven't noticed any falsing issues yet...better go clean it now though just to make sure!

I generally keep the coils clean on both my eTRAC and ATPro.
Come to think of it, lately my ATPro tends to false a lot in high grass/weeds at higher sensitivities also.

But, however, i've never removed the coil covers to make sure there was no junk between the cover and the coil itself.
And there in lies the problem.

I could not believe how much crap was trapped inside the NEL coil cover.
Used the now cleaned up coil and cover today for a short while and the falses were reduced to negligable using 28 manual sensitivity.
    Woo Hoo!
