Unhappy The ultimate M/c has arrived or has it??

Hi my fellow Dtecs,. No doubt the 3030 is going to prove itself and Im sure were all there waiting for it to do so. At the moment Im at the x/roads of whitch M/c to upgrade too. I have a Gt and a Gmp and to be honest I think theyll take some beating as M/c go. My dissapointmet on the 3030 came last w/k end when a friend came along with his new found CTX. Working ahead of him I buried a Hammered about 8in down half back filled it and put my Xp over it,got it no prob,.then completely filled it in.I got a signal but not too clever, so I called my mate over to give his 3030 a go.His M/c gave off a very low tone indicating according to him as Iron!!!.He couldnt believe his eyes when the Hammy appeared. I must admit that there was a minute pice of trash around but surely this M/c!! should have got the Hammy?? back to the drawing board.

    Hello.
Sure I would say back to the drawing board with new settings and some practice. Sooner or later it will come.
Hope you make the right decision for the machine that is what is good for you. That is all you need in a machine.
Confidence and comfort. No matter what the make of the machine.

That's the problem with new detectors, it takes a while to sink in what it is telling you.
    Especially on the iffy signals.

When detecting relics I now and again dig a dodgy signal. Most of the time indeed it turns out to be iron of some sort.
But sometimes it does come up something nice.

I had a few signals in the backyard I dismissed as shallow foil, I did eat a few chocolate bars over there when I was quite a lot younger.
Mates use to come over and have some camping out in the great outdoors.

Fully expecting a vintage chocolate wrapper and foil, out popped a WWII rifle casing nearly completely worn away.
Proceded to dig a few more of these and got some revolver bullet casings as well,..... and a vintage foil wrapper indeed!!

CTX3030 I like it, but it doesn't have alien technology "Iffy Signal Surpression".

If he had conductive sounds selected (which he should if he wants to get the best from his ctx), a hamster will give a low tone.
Iron will give a high pitched screechy sound.

yeah you need to get the settings right and understand what tones targets are going to give you, the ctx etrac etc are nothing like other makes of detector and will take a bit of time to understand but once you do they will knock the socks off most other detectors in most conditions.
stick with it and you will reap the rewards

Ey up Guys, just read this post and it was me that was the fall guy for this test LOL and that is what happened. By the way it was my first time out ever with the CTX and only about 15 mins after turning it on for the first time. Got a few more hours under my belt now and things are getting more clear to me regarding iron but still messing with settings to get it how i want it.
HC what you didn't say is i got the only hammered that day (on my first time out with the CTX)
It will take time but it will come im sure.

you know everyone is going on about how my detector is better than yours(xp vs etrac vs ctx) but at the end of the day what it comes down to is how confident you are and how much time you have spent learning your machine...a top of the range expensive detector will not produce the goods in the wrong hands!-congratulations on the hammered by the way! was that the one that your friend buried or was it a different one??

Hello my new found friends / advisors, many thanks for you input, all good stuff. Maybe I was a little too quick of the mark with my inquiry about the Ctx as it is early days Im sure for those that have the 3030. My friend Botto was unaware of my devious deed and as he said this was his first time out with this M/c and its true to say that Alls well that ends well given time. As for me, at the age of 74 Im not to sure ill have time to learn my way around this type of M/c as much as I would like one. My only experience with this type of M/c was with a M/L Xs and that did my head in with its Hootin and hollerin whippin and a screamin tones, and Im told that If you manage to find sumit It played your National Anthem . Hope we are still friends Botto?????????? Cya
