Beach finds 17/08/12 (Terra'ist at it again) :D

Today i was wondering if it would really be as bad as yesterday but decided that i had to go and got the Terra and went to the beach .
When i got there it was very busy with students all over the place celebrating their A level results i think.
I got there at 3.30pm and was going to stay the whole night but by 10pm i had just about run out of juice and was running low on drink too.
Anyway the beach has been changed a bit since yesterday and the lower ridge that had built up was gone along with some other shingle on the tidals, but its still far to high though.
I saw that the next ridge up the beach was quite steep so i started to detect hoping that it would be good.
And it was , and i did not have to search the tops which were crowded even as i left at 10pm.
I started to find lots of coins all along the ridge and found a couple 1 deffinate Silver rings, i found what looked like a Silver chain and pendent but it is dross.
Today i have had the best takings off the tidals that i have ever had which surprised me , i thought i had far less than what i finished with.
Today i had a US Quarter Dollar, a 20 Euro Cent , a Pier Token , and another unknown to me foreign coin, 2 ? Silver rings .And £69.32p in loose coinage. I think the ET would have found more and when i am trained up enough the CTX aswell but for the Terra 705 to find me that much on the salty damp tidals is amazing and the 705 never fails to amaze me.

I went alone this time as Terry was busy or at least he thought he would be but he had a plan change and missed the finds this time. , now i'm in trouble.
We will be back there tomorrow.
    Sorry the picture is blurry.

Thats a sick amount of coins, congratulations!
Looks like Im gonna keep my Xterra705.My plan was to sell it and just have the Blisstool V3(when it comes) and the Etrac.
Maybe I should have a training course, how much do you take?..

Nicely done Richard, many people ignore how good the XTerra 705 is on the beach and inland.

    Shooosh its our little secret.

Going out late this afternoon for the night if its worth it, i know the weather is hot but yesterday it did not seem to produce much in the way of new losses. Hopefully it will tonight or i will be home by midnight again.

Kick off at 6pm till i drop.

    Finds always amaze me!

And that little Terra is a very nice detector once you had a few hours on it.
Had an evening session a few nights ago on the beach and I treated the whole family to fresh farmgrown strawberries the next day.
A CTX or E-trac may well beat it, but the whole package is spot on!

But Master, the apprentice has now scored another 5.1g 22c gold ring. That is 2 in 2 days and 10 so far this year.

As you know Terry you have more time for detecting and i usualy prowl the tops for the cash, thats a sure thing unlike rings. I will find more yellow soon i think when i use the ET or CTX.

Anyway apprentice you are doing well and you might pass the first grade one day

Think tomorrow night is on , will let you know when to meet but get a bus to my town for arrival at 7.30pm , a Terra and Scope day due to uncertain conditions. Weather is getting bad for the end of the week , i am working so i dont need to worry but you might ?

Re: Beach finds 17/08/12 (Terra'ist at it again) :D

It may depend on the charger you use. I've had a few for my old Nokia and the one I have now charges the battery at least twice as quickly as the last one I had. You still don't have to turn your phone off while you charge it surely?

I do , only charging so it will be charged for tomorrow night if all is well.

Must kip now ,or i will sleep detect tomorrow night.

Your apprentice is very dedicated Richard. I had the pleasure of meeting him and his pal James Sunday evening.

    Thanku Mark.

It was also my pleasure to meet you too. So many detectorists are so unapproachable out in the field, or in our case in the depths of the night at the beach, but you were so chatty and interesting. James was impressed in your professionalism, style and manner too.

Mark, I have now seen that superb king of bling bracelet, which you returned to its rightful owner in April 2011. You really are an astonishingly honest man. Many of us would have found it more difficult to part with such a prize. Excellent in the extreme.

Hi Terry, I know what you mean by some members of our fraternity being unaproachable, I acknowledged a chap who walked past me a few weeks ago. He gave me a scowl and hurried off in the direction I was searching, presumable to try and find whatever was there before I got to it (he failed miserably as I pulled out a few quid from the area he'd just been over!) Glad you managed to find my post on the bracelet and thank you for your kind words. It was great chatting to you both and refreshing to meet fellow detectorists like yourselves who are open and approachable. I hope you had a successful night?

It's often the case with these types, that they have their coils swinging wildly off of the ground and Z-ing, to try and cover far too much area, thinking they've found everything available. In reality their lust for coins leaves them cold, bitter and twisted. I'm happy to follow behind any of them and remove everything they have missed, which is always plenty.

I didn't do too bad at all the other night. I finished with £35, an unmarked silver coloured ring and a 5.1g 22c gents ring with 9 tiny clear crystals.
James had around £50 on his Quatro.
I've been out with Nuke em tonight, for a short hunt and picked up £22 and a totally tat gold coloured chain with pendant.

I had £26.04p and 4 foreign coins. I just laugh at the other people that look as if they running along the beach. Saw one earlier with a older Fisher.

Yes, there was that chap swinging his machine like a Catholic priest swinging a thurible when we were chatting. Maybe he was hoping for some divine intervention! Sounds like a productive night for you both Terry, well done. You too Richard, a respectable result. Not long now chaps and we'll have the first winter storms! Lets hope they're decent ones this year as 2011 was quite tame.
