How does the wireless module stand up to rain?

    CTX 3030
OK peeps, had the CTX a couple of days and I want to hit the beaches (raining or not), but I'm a bit surprised that the machine is not totally waterproof with the wireless module on.
So I guess you have to buy the headphones to be safe in and around water, or can anyone say how the module stands up to the rain?
I was thinking of finding some sort of blanking plug to go in the headphone jack hole in the module, and put a bit of silicone grease round it, would that do the trick?

Frustrating not being able to edit.....by module, I mean the transmitter on the machine and not the receiver........

The transmitter is inside the keypad pod (behind the screen) so it's never effected by rain..... it only ever stops transmitting once it is fully submerged, because Wi-Fi doesn't travel well through water.

The WM10 wireless receiver is NOT waterproof.... so put it into an inside coat pocket and plug your headphones into it.

The detector is fully waterproof, even if you remove the battery pack and headphone module (the non-wireless one).

Re: How does the wireless module stand up to rain?

I've had a couple of decent rainy days with my CTX.
When you dismount the headphone jack, there is a small plug you can screw into the headphone socket.

Stick the WM10 module in a waterproof pouch and have the cable running up to your headphones.
I was wet down to my underpants, but CTX didn't skip a beat.
I like wearing my headphones over the hood, keeps the neck warm and dry.
Then a waterproofed wooly hat all over that.
    You look the part, ....

    Haven't touched my Excal since.

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.
Thats great, i was under the impression for some reason that the headphone module was also the transmitter. So the headphone module on the machine is just an adaptor to go from the dedicated phone jack to a standard one, and by screwing that cap on that is retained inside, we're good to go.......HAPPY HAPPY

No, the headphone module can cause false icon display if it gets very wet.... no big problem as the water isn't getting into the detector... best remove it if using the WM10 and use the blanking cap, which again will stop the wrong icon display if wet.

Nope, you screw your waterproof headphones in. The wireless transmitter will not work with the control panel submerged, unless you are detecting in just knee high water with the screen out of the water, you will need to buy the waterproof headphones.
