Poped down to my Token field today, just for an hour (better than nothing). Out popped this unusual find? It's very heavy at 2lb 4oz (1022g) and if my calculations are correct it has a mass of 5.1 ? which probably puts it in the realms of being 'hematite' but it's not got any iron content at all so can't be hematite?. One side has the remains of a black shiny substance covering the surface, with the other sides being silver/metallic/green. No signs of the usual smelting process so I even have my doubts that it's slag of any description? It's not magnetic. It does, however, get a good non-ferrous signal on the GPX but unusually I get a better response from a coin than this lump of rock! Couldn't believe it's large size compared to the signal I got!! Thought it was going to be a shallow lead token. Incidentally, never found anything on this field even resembling slag before
