CTX bags more silver including a nice rarity :)

Went on a club dig Sunday, it was freshly disced but wasn't far off rough ploughed in areas! We had approx 300 acres and the field was pretty quiet, but was one of them fields that if you got a signal there was a good chance of it being something good (or a 303 bullet ). I managed 3 hammies including my first Berwick Penny The CTX loves Silver!
But my find of the day is what I believe to be a Silver Cock Fighting Spur and if so a very rare find. Just waiting for UKDFD to advise but fingers crossed I'm right  What are your thoughts? It measures 35mm x 11mm and the point is like a small blade, reminds me of Freddie Kruger Claws

Ignoring the possible Cock Spur (what a find that will be if the ID turns out to be correct), I note that you have found "hammered" on each of your first three outings - very well done indeed.

I have only found one in my first three trips - I blame the CTX

Blame yourself dave not the CTX your not trying hard enough. You wait till you get the Bliss turn up, then your going to have to work harder
Why Waste time using an ordinary detector when you have the option to own a CTX3030.

    Hi Tony,

I thought that it was a "wink" smilie at the end of my previous comment

If I have a bad day (in terms of finds) I certainly blame myself and always have done (well, almost always). I do sometimes consider that I spend far too much time thinking about which machine versus which coil versus which settings. One reason why I loved my late e-Trac (about the only tweaking I did on that was to adjust sensitivity).

With the CTX it is certainly early days for me and I think that I have to "try hard" until I hit on a couple of Gordon's programmes that suit me. I do wish a few more CTX users (especially those operating inland in this country) would mention the settings they are using and the type of soil encountered when posting pictures of their finds. When I joined the forum and had so much help from you,Tony, with my e-Trac, it struck me how willing other detectorists were to share settings - even on an organised dig! Let's hope the CTX does not produce a Secret Society (I'm sure it will not).

I'm not thinking too much about the BlissTool until it's in my possession - no point in sleepless nights "yet". It may be the wrong thing to do but I am watching all the videos and reading all the posts I think relevant (making notes as I go). With all it's power, I'm hoping that having the settings somewhat less that ideal (through user incompetence) it will still produce the goods at depth without the need for open-cast mining!

    Hi Stanmonk
I think your Silver Cockspur may be an early Nib of a pen?
that replaced the old Quill pens.
Any way it's a nice find, Well done.
