    Rallies... sending out feelers....

It's now possible that I may be able to make it to Bedford/ Corfe again this year.
Previously,Tony has helped me with accomodation, travel, etc, but is unable to do so this year.
So I'm just sending out some feelers to see if any of you others may be able to help me with travel between Rallies, tent, sleeping bag,air mattress.
It's hard to know what peoples plans are, especially in the time between Bedford and Corfe. Some are going to the W/ W Rally and some are not ,so not sure how I'd fit in there somehow.
I've not booked a flight yet,but the longer I leave it,the more expensive it becomes. I've just got the wifes blessing, but may have left it a bit late.
I presume there is still room left at Bedford,as I haven't seen anything to the contrary from Dave on here.
So I'm leaning on your generosity quite a bit here, but don't want to be a burden to anyone. I'll need to know fairly soon if the above is possible to organize flights, etc.
If it doesn't look like it will work out,I will probably forget about it this year and hope to possibly return another year.

Hi Gary, I have a tent and air bed you can use, as I am sharing the cottage with Mike and David I dont need them. The only problem is that im not going to Bedford, just Corfe from the Monday to the Sunday. Im sure others could supply cooking utensills ie stove ect.

    Re: Rallies... sending out feelers....

Sorry I can't help this year Gary as I mentioned in my PM we have already commited to looking after big Jim Leonard this year, can't ask gwen to look after two of you, I'd get divorced. Im sure theres somebody else going to all three that can help you out. The biggest problem is the transport to and fro between the rallies, theres always somebody with a car will pick you up from the National express station at the start and take you back when you go home.
Another thought is food, corfe and w/w will have facilities for takeaways but Im not sure what dave has planned for Bedford, he did mention he was going to ask a friend with a grub van to attend each day but not sure if thats happening. Can get a bit expensive if you go to a pub every night as you know.
Anyways hope somebody can help you out.
Tent and sleeping bags etc shouldnt be a problem they are dirt cheap in places like Tesco anyways if you had to buy when you get here.
Why Waste time using an ordinary detector when you have the option to own a CTX3030.

Three cheers for Gary!! It will be good to see you again.
    Knew you couldn't stay away.
When I stayed in Norwegian Pole tent with Gary, it wasn't all that bad. Just a bit chilly at night when the stove wasn't stoked.

Is that why you shared one bed and sleeping bag? See you soon Yankee Doodle.

    Re: Rallies... sending out feelers....

    Many thanks for above offers.
Like I said at the beginning,I "may" be able to come. Unfortunately, this means there is also the "may not" option.
Some issues have crept in and there is still the possibility that I can't come, although I will need to say one way or the other very soon.
We'll see what happens and I'll keep you posted.

It will be OK if you only manage to get to Corfe.

Whatever happens, time goes by quickly, Corfe and maybe Bedford will be there
    next time around.
Take care Gary, see you sooner or later.

    Re: Rallies... sending out feelers....

The last few days have been decision time for me.

Weighing up what I want to do against what I should do.

So it is with much dissapointment and regret that I have made the decision that I cannot come to Corfe/Bedford this year.

This decision mainly prompted by the cost -upwards of $2500.00 for a flight now plus other expenses means the whole thing is just too expensive for me. Costs more than a new CTX3030.
I had managed to save some money towards the flight, but it will now be needed to pay for household bills as work is very quiet now.

Would have been great to see all your happy smiling faces again, detect for ancient treasures, and especially this year -see the CTX3030 in the flesh and in action.

Anyhow, I hope all you who are going have a wonderful time and find some good stuff. Just remember to leave something for me for when I can hopefully return another year.

Don't forget to post up photos and videos afterwards so I can see the good times I missed.

What a shame Gary I was looking forward to seeing you again, but this is after all is just a hobby and other things have priority. Hopefully we will see you next year. Best wishes Dave.
