There are no strangers, just friends we've yet to meet.

    Re: lincoln rally details

firstly I need to apologize for my cardinal sin.

I'm new to metal detecting and this was my first rally, but I have cocked up royally and for that I am deeply sorry for asking permission from the farmer when he came to visit...FAIL!

I have a apologized to the organizer face to face and explained myself and I'm hoping my apology was accepted in the genuine good faith and honesty that I gave.

    here's where I went wrong.

I didn't realize that this was a regular event on this farmers land and assumed it was a one off hense my reason for asking the farmer permission as I live in the area..WRONG!

Hadn't read this thread about details of the event, where and when etc. ( am new to the forum and should have searched)

Hadn't read the rules of conduct while on a rally (not to ask farmer permission while on a rally)

Wrongly assumed that as one of my friends has had permission on said land for many years that it would be ok for me to ask (heat of the moment-gold fever)

I hereby give publicly on this forum my deepest humble apology for cocking up.

Had a great day, found a fantastic 16th century gold posy ring which is my best find to date, ruined due to the heat of the moment verbal mistake, sorry everyone.

    All the best

    Paul
