    a few recent finds

i know most of us would probably consider these scrap and they are not very exiting but i have a fondness for axes so i couldn't just throw them away with out giving them another chance at life.
the axe i restored is an Ewell no5 which is a favorite of mine, and on occasion i still use one fell tree's instead of my chainsaw.
the strange thing with these axes is that i wouldn't normally dig iron but they where slightly diferant signals from what i would usually expect form iron and it was a slow day so i dug them to see what it was and there we have it 2 nice axes about 4 feet apart and by far the best and most usefully finds of the day.

Holy Smokes! Most people woulda pitched em in the trash.
Insead you restored it back to a working condition.
And an excellent restoration at that.

When testing my detector out for the first time, i found an old rusted out axe head buried about a foot deep on my property.
No clue as to how it got there, but my area was homesteaded in the 1800s and heavily forested back then.
Its still somewhere in the corner of my pole barn i think.
I also just couldn't throw it out!

Nothing like handling a detecting tool.

Found a swiss army knife at the beach, needed a little tlc. Has been in my small duffle ever since.

    Hi Tombs,

Nothing wrong with a great bit of recycling. Save the Planet.

With the signal the axe heads are made from tempered steel not iron so will give a good big signal. I have dug loads of steel as have other detectorists as these type of signals are normally not rejected with minimum discrimation that we search in.
