I got this awesome piece of kit back when I was 12yrs old! Don't have one anymore but Id part with a buck or two to have one again.

I Use: , some coils and stuff.
Each year I remove countless pounds of trash from local beaches... your rings are my fee .

K1000 kit bought from a chap in Bridport Dorset.
Had a great few years with it.
I believe it may of been a c scope product but cannot remember.
Searched the web but cannot find any pics of it.

My first was a toolbliss something or other, for my 5 th birthday 1972.
Had loads of knobs on it that you twiddled even though they weren't connected to owt, you just thought it worked better when you twiddled them.
    Proper old fashioned looking thing.

Re: What was your first detector??

My first detector was a whites coinmaster in 2011, didn't even have the faintest idea why they called it a coinmaster.
The guy selling them uses his living room as a shop.

Anyway it was fascinating walking along the beach in the evening, digging up everything.
Guess what it found coins as well.

After watching countless amounts of youtube videos, reading every article on detecting I could find.
I bought myself an Excalbur II, Imagine my surprise when it found its first gold ring shortly after.

Now I've come full circle since I bought the coinmaster last summer.
Excalibur, Sovereign, Xterra 705, E-trac, CTX, Deus and I usually take tector out for its walk about 3 times a week.

Been out in freezing weather, at night, lazy summer evenings, wearing full rain gear, hot tailed it out of dodge for an incoming thunderstorm.
I just love the hobby, peace and quiet, mind at rest, no fiddling about with bait.
Haven't found anything really old, sure have a nice collection of bling by now!

My first one was made by my dad, he's an electric/electronic freak.
He used to detect, and I dug the coins (and rubbish).
He kept the siver ( sixpences, shillings, half crowns) and I had the pennies.
Whenever I had a handfull I would run up the beach to the slot machines,
lost everything within minutes, and started all over again.
    Main beach was Bigbury.

My first detector was a home made BFO built from plans in an American magazine in 1976 very 'Heath Robinson' with a wooden stem and the coil sandwiched betweeln 2 pieces of formica. I was able to find modern coins on a local picnic site and the machine had a high degree of iron discrimination, unfortunately I loaned it to somebody who didn't return it.
It was replaced with a Bounty Hunter TR(? 500) which cost around £48!!

My first detector was a Compass Coin Magnum I bought for a lot of money. This was more then 30 years ago.The Compass was an VLF/TR detector with manuel ground balance.I paid 400£ for the detector 1979.I was 15 year old and my father told my I was "blue-eyed" saying you not gonna find anything with that. After 6 months he purchased a Compass as well....haha.

I found so much good finds, sold a lot of the silver and gold I found but still have 1200 coins or more. Why I dont know, but my son like to play hide the treasure

I remember building a BFO detector back in the 70s, for my brother-in -law, sounds very similar to the one you made astonmt, he had quite a bit of fun with it in the back garden , one problem was next doors dog howled like mad as soon as he heard it, not popular with the neighbours and I got the blame.
