    Cool Olympics in London

I noticed on the news last night in the states, that the poo is already hitting the fan near the area of Olympics, people being arrested.

I'm worried that al-Qaeda insurgents are going to do something at the Olympics, anyone else feel this way.

Yes some arrests have been made and well within site of the Olympic site...... but don't worry, the police said it's not related in any way to the Olympics

Very surprised that there has not been any replies, well, one reply, on the Olympics that will be starting soon. Guess most people just don't want to think about it till something happens...

I believe that the Muslims will do their thing; I sure hope I'm wrong.

    Re: Olympics in London

I can only speak for myself and people I know and an overwhelming majority couldn't give a damn about the olympics. The organisation has been nothing short of pathetic and a scandal. From the farce of ticket sales to the security arrangements, it's all been a lesson in officials trying to look big and make a name for themselves within their own sad little circles. They honestly couldn't give a damn about anything except what they can get out of it themselves. The whole thing is a complete and utter mess. Britain at it's very worst. Corruption, scandal, incompetence, maladministration.... the list is endless.

Terrorists are the least of our worries living in London. The whole mess is a nightmare. Trying to get about a normal day is already becoming hard, with roads closed. If as an ordinary citizen you try to get from the Westend to the City, you can forget it let alone when the shut down all those lanes this Sunday. The words I'd use for the Olympics are not printable......rubbish is the best I can come up with, and us Londoners are paying for most of it.

Wow i thought i was the only one who thought i was a crock of sh*t. when the Olympic torch went by my house i had a massive tree being delivered on the back of a tractor it was about ten seconds in front of the torch, kind of buggered up the procession a bit but very funny, the tractor driver couldn't believe how pleased every one was to see him

The torch passing? I wouldn't have opened the curtains to see it, a right load of sphericals! mind you, as I live at the end of a country lane they would have had to be following a satnav to wander this far off track!

Another farse the security firm who won the bid the cover the event as now admitted that it cannot meet its requirements with just two weeks to go. The Army have stepped in to make up the shortages in security personel which is according to the news is a few thousand soliders. Some who have just returned from Afghanistan and was looking forward to leave with thier families. As for the olympics anyone know when it finishes.

I wonder `who` actually` will benefit by the millions of revenue brought in by the Olympics. Can`t see the ordinary man in the street being one of them. Business people maybe , the government possibly, but Joe Soap ! Nah.

Well, being very far (geographically) removed from it all, I must say that I can't wait for the Olympics.

    Re: Olympics in London

As a retailer we were asked months ago by our suppliers if we would like to order any olympic stock.

After looking into it, we declined........the paperwork we had to fill out was rediculous. The terms we had to agree to was ridiculous! We had to do this and do that to 'obey' the 'olympic rules' and 'government rules'. It felt more like we were dealing with a cartel not a sporting event for the people.

Now our suppliers are trying to sell off olympic stock at a fraction of the price because demand is not there!

    Re: Olympics in London

They covered the subject briefly on The Wright Stuff (Channel 5) this morning. They have the Olympic police (council jobs worths) out and about stoping people from putting things in their shop windows ie olympic rings and the like. The olympics is now just a money spinning exercise for promoters and the organisers. it's lost it's oomph as far as I'm concerned. As far as I can gather if you enter one of the stadiums with clothing that is displaying a logo other than an olympic sponsor then you will be asked to remove it or tape it over!! - I kid you not!!

    Cool Re: Olympics in London

Last night on the news they had one of the security guards that was trained for the Olympics, he was sleeping on the job.

I will enjoy watching on TV... oh! one more thing...you guys have more than likely heard this, our Olympic Uniforms are made in China!
Almost everything here is made in China; not at all happy with my country and unless something happens, and fast, this country is going down.

    Re: Olympics in London

More cock-ups on the Olympics today...... this one's a cracker! with only a few days to go they have confirmed they haven't yet sold all the tickets they put on offer to the public, and wait for it, wait for it..... they have located another 400,000+ tickets that seemed to have slipped the net and forgot to put out for sale my god you couldn't write this stuff and to cap it all off G4S recon they are nearer 5000 security personnel short and not 3,500 and don't forget several months back they lost trace of about 250,000 tickets and god knows where they are going to end up no doubt terrorism.com have a surplus of tickets if anyone wants one

im glad all the poo is hitting the fan - hopefully it will make the downtrodden of this country sit up and look behind the curtain - the olympics is a success scaled against the corruption in other areas of our daily lives.

its not the " terrorists" they have to worry about - its the spring that will inevitably come from its own people - and its coming be sure of that.

yes tombs - but things are getting beyond anything that tv can keep people sedated with. It will happen and alot sooner than people think - infact you could say its a piece of history in the making.

Terrorism isn't just bombs, as they prefer to frighten people. That is exactly how your threatening post reads. I presume you're Polish, so I can forgive you for not having British steadfastness.
