Why don't you post your finds?

Just thought I'd do a little poll to see what keeps so many from posting their finds. I know that many do in fact post their loot but it would be interesting to hear from those who don't. In my case I generally 'save up' my finds until I have enough to make a video so I haven't been posting many pics lately. How about you?

hi stewart, i think if it was easier to post photos instead of uploading to photobucket first then copy and paste each one to mlo probably more people would do it. i've never managed to get the attachment button in mlo to work, it always says the file is too big. maybe i'm doing it all wrong?

Re: Why don't you post your finds?

Thats why I not post so much images.
Its to complicated to go via photobucket when my
images allready are fixed. Why cant we upload the images from
    the computer directly?...
I wish it was more user friendly cus I really like MLO
    and the people in it.

Re: Why don't you post your finds?

I guess it's mostly because the stuff I find isn't usually all that special. So I just can't be bothered.

I ordered a small camcorder though which should arrive next week, so perhaps I'll be sharing some videos instead.

Could you add a 'I do post my finds' at the bottom of the poll so I can tick it and see how the poll is getting on? Thanks.

The first option is "I do post my finds."

Think it's the hassle of uploading etc as Sean say's.Then when you do post something that's not special ,people view but can't be bothered to answer.Make's you wonder why you try to get people to respond at time's.Sometimes it seem's to be what detector you use to the response you get.Don't know why that is but that's how it appear's at time's to me.

Re: Why don't you post your finds?

I don't find it too difficult, especially with MLO and Photobucket open side by side. But I've barely been detecting for a couple of months now, beginning to get quite twitchy.

Re: Why don't you post your finds?

    OK, my 2 cents!
I can see why some might be a little shy posting pics of their meager finds as compared to the other great finds posted here. Some of us just don't live in abundant silver and gold areas.
But my finds are what they are and i now post them if nothing else as sort of my on-line log even though it might be boring to some. Still, seeing those great gold/silver finds posted here is inspiring and motivational.

I for one really appreciate those who offer recoginition, tips, advice, similar experiences and to those who take the extra time tending to carry on a short dialog of sorts with the particulars of my threads.

Far as uploading to Photobucket and then downloading the pics here, i personally have no problem with it. As Davidhod mentioned, just open two windows, one for Photobucket and the other for MLO and i'm on a slow dialup where a typical pic might take a couple minutes to upload.
But maybe even more important, the pics uploaded to Photobucket are archived in case of a hard drive crash. Sometimes i forget to back them up on a thumb drive.

If I get out & find anything worth while I show it,have missed a few admitedly.
I dont think it matters what people post pics of,its all interesting,& we ought to put in that bit of effort,it brightens up the forum,& gives something back for all the hard work that goes into it.

Right you miserable non pic posters,If I see you in the field & you want a look at my finds,I shall tell you' cant be bothered to get em out me pocket'.

Re: Why don't you post your finds?

I post when i find enough but if i find only a few quid then cant be bothered and Photobucket is slow or at least for me.
Anyway is posting just spendable money on here worth it ? if i find gold or other Jems then that goes on here anyway but i am out quite a lot and it gets difficult with time although i am on the site every day i just flick through a lot of the time.

Re: Why don't you post your finds?

Its the easiest thing in the world to post from photobucket like others have said just have photobucket and the forum open side by side and copy and paste, takes seconds. I store all my pics on photobucket anyway just Incase I hit something and lose them off my computer.

Use Photobucket. It is so easy as long as you resize correctly.I resize using Microsoft picture manager to 480x680 web large.
    Give it a try.

All fish look the same, yet it motivates me to go fishing or detecting.
If there's a small story behind it makes great reading, a bit of detecting tech thrown in really makes my day.

Re: Why don't you post your finds?

    You don't post your finds....
You don't tell a small story when you do - just a snapshot "I found this". Wow, that's really exciting.

I've asked Gary "Why can't I get any stories from anyone. However, I have gotten a few, a small few. It's OK, I've gotten used to it and have quit asking for stories and asked for photos. Still no response.

Gary told me if you "See it - then Grab it" The number one reason that there's a Relic Hunters Facebook page is that People don't hesitate to post there. It's more like a bragging right. I'd like to see some bragging here on MLO

So if you feel like writing something on here, please do. Just don't throw up a photo without telling us something about it. At least throw in a couple of sentences... and use periods, please. We had one bloke on here that did a complete mind dump and never included any punctuation, at all. Couldn't read half of it.

    Cheers....

Re: Why don't you post your finds?

Yes,I do post up most of my finds finds via photos or video. As I have no detecting mates, rallies to go to,etc, this is my only way to show anyone interested in detecting my finds.
I know my finds may not always be of a lot of interest to those in UK and America, but I'm sure the Aussies on here would be a lot more interested,as it's the sort of stuff they could also find.

Keith. Theres a setting in photobucket that lets you automatically resize the pictures to 480 x 680 or whatever, while they are being uploaded to PB. You dont need to use microsoft picture manager. PB does it all for you.

Why it was ever set as low as 2 was beyond my comprehension at the time for the reasons you state
