Stu, you can come. Just make sure when you arrive you pay for your camping at the farm shop and then come and find me to pay for the detecting.

Re: Corfe Castle 2012 whos coming.

    Update for Corfe
Rang the farmer today from the village fields. All the normal fields up the lane are available. They are in various stages of cultivation. The two furthest at the top of the lane have been sown with rape that is just coming up so please make an extra special effort to repair your holes in these if you go into them.
All the fields up the left hand side of the lane are still stubble but fairly short. He said he may well start ploughing and working these down before we get there. The fields on the right going up the lane are rape stubble that has been disced so no problem there either wouldn't think.
We are still waiting to hear from his landlord about the 150 acres where he lives and wether we can detect that for one day this year. No promises but keeping my fingers crossed. Its only been detected fleetingly by some old boy over the years so could be interesting but no promises. More details about this at corfe if we get the nod plus hopefully a map.

Our normal fields on Norden farm are all available to detect as far as I know. I haven't spoken to Jonathon to see if he's ploughing any pasture up this year but looking at the grass on all of them throughout this summer I don't think he needs to re sow any.

When everybody pays me at Corfe this year for the detecting I will be handing out a baggage label to tie on your detector with the number of days you have paid for just to keep tags on things.

The Farm campsite will also hand out Tags to tie on your Tent or caravan / Camper for the same reason so please tie them somewhere prominent and I know they will be checking these everyday.

As far as I know we have been allocated all the donkey field this year. I have had a struggle to get them to let us have some big litter bins which they don't normally allow but have agreed to place them by the water tap. They have also agreed to let us have a campfire on the hard road also by the tap.

One of our members who is a tree surgeon is bringing a load of logs and also a metal fire pit for our use when he arrives on the friday night, this will save digging holes this year.

There are no rules as such other than the obvious one of filling all your holes in. Anybody caught not doing this will be asked to leave the rally immediately. As normal you can detect where you like from thursday onwards. Detecting before thursday if you arrive early is confined to just the hill to keep things fair to everybody.
New members who haven't been to corfe before please see me or another member for field details. If you don't own a car you will need to blag a lift to the village fields or walk. Enjoy.

Re: Corfe Castle 2012 whos coming.

I was planning to get there Sunday at the latest. Not sure if that will happen now.
Her Royal Majesty has decided to come as well .
Big problem is that she needs a Visum for the UK. For that she had to go down to Düsseldorf and get her fingerprints taken.
Crazy authorities, she has had a few visa already, but still has to go through the procedure.
Still not arrived, maybe she has to stay at home, be a shame about the €150 for the train to Düsseldorf.

Next good news is my Mondeo turbocharcher died last week. The repair will cost €€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€.
So I invested all the money I don't have in a new used car. Will get it on Friday.

    Otherwise everything's OK.

Hope all goes well for your new used car and safe travelling.
If it works out that Her Royal Majesty can join you this year, I'm sure she'd love to make you cuppas and dig your treasures for you.
    Good luck.

Re: Corfe Castle 2012 whos coming.

I'm arriving sometime monday. People with tents, please dont pitch them on a pitch with hook up to electric unless you've booked one as they will be needed for caravans and campers. No detecting either until I get there please. Detecting before the rally starts thursday will only be allowed on the hill as usual.

I'll be driving down from the airport on Thursday. Depending on what time I get there, I might drop by the campsite to see who's around before planting myself in the bar at the Bankes Arms.

Can't wait to see everyone again!

I'm getting excited now 8) . Been out buying beer. Also sorted for a reasonable contribution to the Captain's Bar.

Bought enough food to feed Offa and the Captain on Monday night, travelling down with Offa on Monday and looking forward to chilling for a couple of days before the action starts.

Offa seems to think it's a holiday....

She wants a Bling Bling bringing back from my beach hunt though.
