Thread: What you would like on a ctx3030 update

  1. #1

What you would like on a ctx3030 update

    CTX 3030
I know it's early days on this machine and I have yet to recive my own ctx but there is one thing I would like to see on an update and that is an ability to edit the tone id with more flexibility.
I would like to be able to assign tones in the same way you can edit the discrim patterns. This would open up so much more to this idea of running in all metal and discriminating by tones.

Firmware to make it lighter - Transformers style.

    Iron volume control.
Shortcut to last used setting (e.g. - to compare trash density high with ferrous coin)
Would be nice if software could fix the headphone problem on some models so we don't need an adapter or rewiring.

I'm sure in the next few months we'll get a good overview of what we would like.

I would really love to see independant audio volume control, That means i could go all metal and turn down the volume on the ferrous line.

    Basically an iron volume.

I am sure there will be updates to take views and requests into account, the model number is similar to the XT range when it first appeared 30,50,70 so it leads me to think there will be a CTX5050 and 7070, the launch of the CTX will I would think spawn further mods and improvements.

The idea of the update function is that we shouldn't need to upgrade every time they make some changes. Just plug in, update and by magic you have a new machine.

That is a very good idea and maybe possible just by softwareupdate too. But we dont need 1750 tones to do it, just the ability to address the 50 tones to any of the 1750 disc pixels. That would surely make it possible to update by software.

Why not open a volume control for any of the 1750 disc pixels also.... that should also be possible since it is software based.

These two together would make it very easy to adjust the iron falsing away wich seem to be a main goal for some now.

    assignable tones in multi tone

I'd like to see an option in the Xchange2 software to convert the GPS track data to either a .kml or .kmz format for use with Google Earth rather than Google Maps.

A paper back manual ,as for updates why dont we get used to this machine first.

I would like to be able to adjust the volume for each tone independently, my intention would be to have iron at a lower volume than the other tones.

I would like to control the depth for any and ALL signals - so let's say we can discriminate out everything in the top 6" of a popular old park and now only get signals for the deep stuff. Would cut out all the non-ferrous junk and current coins...

That is interesting Barry. At a rudimentary level it would be quite easy to program. They would just disc out sound responses below a certain threshold\volume. They would also need to somehow factor in target size so as to lessen small target "falses".

Another simpler and less accurate way would be to basically filter out signals on the depth meter below a threshold in inches you set. But perhaps the CTX already has a sizing algorithm here as the depth meter appears very accurate from the early reports.

Interesting twist on deep silver hunting!

I could not agree more. My machine is ordered, paid for and with delivery expected very soon, it will be some time before I know the machine well enough to start thinking about updates.

Of course there are those owners who are able to applaud or condemn the CTX 3030 after just an hours "hands on" experience in the field. For some reason it takes me a very long time to learn a machine.

Some folks have ordered a machine, but there is no stock due to a supply shortage.

What a way to run a business to get folks punters all excited with all the advertising and not have off the shelf supplies.

At least a much smaller certain European manufacturer did not let their customers down to this degree. Jerry.

You don't have to be an expert of the ctx to have ideas for improvements. Im interested in people's ideas and to share mine. What's the problem with that???

No problem at all, improvement's can be made on most thing's.Just think it's early day's as you said in your first post.I was basically agreeing with Dave the post before mine.Without trying it first i would not know!

Having used many machines with many features, such as the V3i. It is pretty easy to look at a machine without ever using it and know a bit about it's operation. For example, I don't want a single tone Tesoro, but some people get on great with them.

Having used TTF on the E-Trac (and others) and wishing the iron volume could be adjusted, it is an easy call to say the same feature would be nice on the CTX. I have a Jupiter and you can't adjust the iron volume, but you can adjust the iron tone. It helps somewhat, but not as much as iron volume would.

Have you ever done a lot of videoing with detectors? I make educational videos and like showing how settings changes affect things. If you don't video, do you like to compare settings on a (target) to see quickly which one works best? Most of us do and going into the menu and doing that really really slows things down. Having a shortcut is great and needed.

Further, having hoped for certain features and not see them delivered, it's nice to speak our minds because Minelab reads the forums. They probably communicate with some of the testers here as well. The testers can relate good sounding ideas. Remember, Minelab is going to do updates and they want them to make us happy. A good idea spoken now, is a valuable idea regardless.

Silence helps no one. Speak your mind, just make intelligent suggestions.

I think it's a bit premature to come to any conclusions, especially if you haven't used one. How is it in your soil? How does swinging it feel for your back? I guess #3 you answered fair enough! eeheheh. It will take a few months to really start to see what the machine is capable of. - This was your post from another thread, and i was wondering how is my post any different? :S

Re: What you would like on a ctx3030 update

Dave9 - The feeling I got from your post was just that you and another poster were trying to derail the thread. Not adding anything to it. We wanted to talk about future upgrades. We didn't want to hear we had to use it to know some features we want. I spoke to a few people who swung one, so had some good information from early on.

What was your intention? Perhaps I misunderstood.

Albert, i think we have got our wires crossed; my only intention is to give the CTX30-30 its justice, before anyone shoots its down and mentions upgrades. Seems a bit early in the day to talk about upgrades that we all may want until more tests results have come in for analysis.

    Best Wishes Dave9
