We have had farmers say no as soon as we mention the detecting word but when they hear the money word 9 times out of 10 it sways them....
Gaining permission for one is usually a pain in the butt gaining permission for a club is quite a bit harder...
It's amazing how the word MONEY works with farmers
    Great finds man!

Paying to hunt private property is an interesting idea.
    Some questions if you would.
-Is paying to hunt one's property common in the U.K.?
-When paying to hunt, whats the agreement if a valuable hoard is found?
-If you don't mind saying, whats the typical payment offered to hunt one's private property?

For clubs it is the normal thing in the UK,all of our farmers barring two have the cash for them selves one donates his money to the Red Cross another to his local church.

Even if you dont pay the agreement is usually a 50/50 split, our club has an agreement with all farmers they get half of the valuation. We have three things going through the treasure act now.

-If you don't mind saying, whats the typical payment offered to hunt one's private property? I cant comment about individuals or other clubs ours is £10 a head,it's surprising how many farmers say no then when you mention the cash they have a sudden change of heart
We've had a few club members ask us to approach farmers they've had a no from in doing so and the mention of the money we've had a yes so I guess if you flash the cash it works

Pretty much every other organised country pursuits pay to access land. As Gra says asking on behalf of a club often gets declined until you mention cold hard cash!

Yeah, there's some truth to the saying: 'Money talks and BS walks'
Thanks for the info, i just might try offering $10 to hesitant farmers to search their fields where old settlements once stood now corn fields.
